About us...
Nicole Bruslund have worked as a full time bird trainer in Weltvogelpark Walsrode, Loro Parque, Heidelberg zoo and currently in Marlow Birdpark. She have extensive experience in establishing new bird demonstrations and initiate training with inexperienced birds.
She always had a special interest in enrichment and have working experience with setting up structured enrichment efforts in large collections.
She has a background in technical engineering which comes in handy with enclosure design and developing technical solutions.
Simon Bruslund has more than 25 years of experience working for some of the most important bird collections in the world. Since 2002 he have worked in the role of curator (collection manager) in different zoos including Al Wabra Wildlife Preservation, Weltvogelpark Walsrode, Loro Parque Fundacion and Heidelberg zoo. Additional to Bruslund BirdConsult he currently has a part time employment as conservation manager in Marlow Birdpark and a role as guest researcher at the University of Southern Denmark.
He has written numerous articles on avicultural as well as several per-reviewed papers on ornithological, conservation and veterinary issues.
He takes on a driving role for many international breeding programs and cooperation’s for conservation projects. He serves on several boards and committees to fulfil these tasks.
Bruslund BirdConsult was founded in 2014 as a part time venue next to the day jobs. Nicole and Simon have been married since 2010 and are both dedicated to responsible aviculture, high animal welfare standards, coordinated population management and species conservation.
